Humanismo cívico: hacia una renovación humanista de la vida política (I)

Abstract

It is in general quite evident that something is not working well in current Western democracies.On the one hand, civic apathy is becoming more and more common every day, especially amongyoung people. On the other hand, political scandals have become so common that they are no longerconsidered newsworthy. Even though this situation is discouraging on many fronts, there still remainsa socio-political philosophy with clear Aristotelian roots that has been recently rehabilitated by theSpanish philosopher Alejandro Llano. This philosophy is the Civic Humanism which invites us to re-think democracy once again from a genuinely human point of view, since the essence of Civic Humanismis the fact that people and their essential dignity are of central importance.

Está muy claro para todos que algo no marcha bien en las actuales democracias occidentales. Por un lado; cada día es más generalizada la apatía cívica; en especial entre los jóvenes. Por otro; los escándalos de corrupción política hasta tal punto se han vuelto el tema recurrente de los medios de comunicación que prácticamente ya no son noticia. Frente a este espectro socio-político nada alentador existe; sin embargo; una propuesta filosófico-política; la cual tiene claras raíces aristotélicas; que ha sido recientemente rehabilitada por el filósofo español Alejandro Llano. Es el humanismo cívico el cual nos invita a repensar la democracia desde parámetros genuinamente humanos ya que en el centro de sus reflexiones sitúa a la persona y su dignidad esencial.
