Pedro Lemebel, profesor: era su vida humana la dilatada brecha.

Abstract

Las grandes mutaciones culturales que ha vivido Chile en los últimos treinta años han impactado en la figura social del docente: se ha hecho un esfuerzo como política de Estado por dar al profesor/a su papel histórico y reforzar su importancia, pero paralelamente, los procesos han seguido su curso en detrimento de este rol social. Por otra parte, la educación superior ha intentado integrar, en la formación inicial docente, categorías como las de diversidad étnica, diversidad sexual, interculturalidad, inclusión, entre otras, bajo la presión de variados movimientos sociales y de la importancia que estas categorías han asumido a nivel internacional.

The major cultural shifts that Chile has experienced over the past thirty years have impacted the social perception of teachers: there has been a state policy effort to restore the historical role of teachers and reinforce their importance. However, these processes have simultaneously evolved to the detriment of this social role. Furthermore, higher education has attempted to incorporate categories such as ethnic diversity, sexual diversity, interculturality, and inclusion into initial teacher training, influenced by various social movements and the growing significance these categories have gained at the international level.
