| dc.description.abstract | Los productos de origen pesquero pueden adquirir concentraciones de metales pesados (Hg, Cd, As, Pb) a través de procesos de bioacumulación y biomagnificación, debido a la exposición de los organismos a estos xenobióticos en los sistemas acuáticos. Niveles bajos de concentración de metales producen un impacto negativo en la salud de las personas de comunidades con consumo frecuente de peces. En este capítulo, se presentan los resultados del análisis realizado a la percepción de 26 representantes de gremios o asociaciones de consumidores colombianos frente a la problemática de riesgo por consumo de metales tóxicos en la zona costera de Colombia, específicamente en Santa Marta. Este estudio se realizó también con consumidores de Bogotá, ciudad capital ubicada en el interior del país. Para analizar la percepción de la comunidad, con énfasis en la caracterización de las causas, elementos regulatorios y apropiación social del conocimiento, se implementó la metodología de investigación participativa World Café (WC) y se aplicó el modelo interpretativo estructural (ISM).
